Abstract

Sexual violence against children is a criminal offense that has serious physical, psychological and social impacts on children. This study aims to examine the legal regulations and analyze the effectiveness of the role of the Tangerang Regency Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (DP3A) in handling sexual violence against children, as well as to formulate solutions to improve its effectiveness. This research uses an empirical juridical method with a statutory and field approach. Data were obtained through literature study, documentation and interviews and analyzed qualitatively. The results show that DP3A Tangerang Regency has carried out prevention, assistance, rehabilitation and coordination in handling cases of violence against women and children. Based on the research data, the number of cases handled by DP3A was 152 cases in 2020, 154 cases in 2021, 191 cases in 2022, 174 cases in 2023, 227 cases in 2024 and increased to 298 cases in 2025. The implementation of DP3A’s role has not been fully optimal due to limitations in human resources, budget, public awareness and inter-agency coordination.
